Frequently-Asked Questions
What if I need my building next week in stead of next month?
When someone orders a building we agree on a delivery date. I try to space things out so that if you need a building faster ,we can usually fit it in. Sometimes we have display buildings on hand that may meet your needs. We will even work extra hours to have your building finished when you want it.
How do I prepare the ground for the shed/barn?
If it is level already you don't have to do anything. We recomend road base gravel especially if it is not level to start with. If you want to put it on railroad ties that works also. Call Allen for recomended Tie spacing.
Do I need a cement pad?
You don't need one, but if you want the very best that's how to do it!
Can you custom build a shed that looks different from those in your gallery?
We can , and we love a challenge! We never get tired of questions. So if you can describe it, or draw it, or send us a picture, we can usually do it.
What if I want to change something after my building is ordered?
Changes can be made right up to the day we actually construct your shed.
What if I want a horse barn but I have a horse that chews wood?
Our horse shelters are usually lined with OSB inside to protect the walls. We can also use metal inside if you prefer. It costs a little more, but it solves the problem.
What if my gate is too narrow to get my building through?
Then we build on site.
What is the biggest building you can move in one piece?
We can move a 12'x32' building in one piece.
How long does it take to constuct my building on site?
It depends on the size of course. 8x12 and smaller, less than three hours. Our record for a 12x20 tall barn was five hours. We prebuild all we can in the shop to minimize actual construction time at your site.
Why does it cost more when you construct on site?
Because it takes two or three guys out of the shop and interupts production. We keep these costs as lows as we can.
Does my shed need to be anchored to the ground?
We have never heard of any of our buildings being moved by the wind. We have however at a customers request put iron stakes in the corners and secured the building to them.
How can I do that?
You can use anything from steel fence posts, or rebar. Or if your building is on cement, you can use cement anchor bolts.
What are my shingle color options?
We use mostly Tamko shingles ,so anything they supply. The most popular colors are;Rustic Black, Rustic Evergreen, Autumn brown, Weathered wood, and Thunderstorm gray.
Will my building be mouse proof?
If it must be mouse proof we recomend a steel security door. There is no other place a mouse can get in except the door. If we use our shop doors there is almost no chance of a mouse getting in , but to be absolutly sure, go with the security door.
What if I want to insulate it myself later?
That is no problem. The stud spacings are standard for fiberglass bats. We do however recomend that we insulate the floor if you ever plan do the rest yourself. Everything else can be done later but the floor needs to be done as we build ,as it would be very difficult to do later. We charge $1.00 per Sq. Ft. to do the floor.
If I need two or more buildings will you give me a price break?
Yes we have many repeat customers and we always give a break for second or third buildings. we have one customer that ownes five Miller Barns.
